David Arkenstone Barnett is a photographer, painter, singer and lecturer and resides in the town of Kaiapoi, just north of Christchurch New Zealand. Originally from London England, David is predominantly known in NZ for his work in Ufology (the study of UFO's), a path that opened to him over 32 years ago whilst serving in the NZ navy. In this scenario the ship he served on had a close encounter with a USO (Unidentified Submerged Object) out in the pacific, an experience that left a profound effect on David and ultimately his direction in life, which has been one of self-discovery, personal development and research.

For many years now David has been researching on the fabled city of Atlantis and has come up with a profoundly new hypothesis on this legendary civilization which incredibly includes New Zealand. He now regularly lectures on this subject, a lecture  which is an insightful, succinct and informative presentation explaining both scientifically and spiritually the history and purpose of Atlantis.

As well as lecturing David professionally paints and exhibits his artwork in both galleries and regional exhibitions throughout the year. As an artist his artwork reflects many of his Atlantean beliefs, and this can be seen as being a major influence over many of his works such as the 'Atlantis Rising' & 'constellation' series.

David has also recently moved into a new range of art known as the 'Shining One's series'. In direct contrast to his other works,  this series focuses more on the use of gold and silver leaf in conjunction with  oil's to create a uniquely original style which in essence again focuses in on David's personal beliefs.

As if two styles of artwork was not enough, David has a third style which is again in contrast to the other two. Called the linear abstract series, these pieces reflect what David refers to as his 'boundaries of the mind'. what David means by this statement is that where the constellation series allows his mind to be boundless, expansive and free of all restrictive linear time and space,  the Linear artwork in contrast places those boundaries back upon the mind therefore creating art that has distinctive linear layers.

As David continues to evolve  within himself, so too does his artwork continue to evolve. As he himself says, "I don't feel that there will ever be a time where I stop creating new styles of artwork". "I have no idea what artistic expressions still reside within that are just waiting to be created, but I so look forward to meeting them in the future".
